Before boardshorts, surfers and swimmers wore wool tank suits, like six-year-old Bill Saunders Senior here in 1925.
Just like the Aloha Shirt, boardshorts were conceived and created in Honolulu in the early 1930s. No one is quite sure of the year, but it had definitely happened by 1931, as all six Kahanamoku brothers were photographed in October of that year wearing boardshorts.
Those boardshorts were 90% likely to have been custom made at Linn's Tailor, situated right in Waikiki on Royal Hawaiian Drive. Today, boardshorts are made all over the world, and are rightly considered the unofficial uniform of Hawaii.
Our boardshorts are Handmade in the USA and feature impeccable craftsmanship.
