about trim
Founded in 2014, trim makes print publications, short films, and boardshorts. Rooted in an obsession for the ocean, we dig handmade surfboards, surf culture, durable boardshorts, and the reefs of Waikiki.
Jock Sutherland. An icon in the world of surfing. Winner of the 1967 Duke Kahanamoku Invitational. Star of John Severson’s Pacific Vibrations. But those are not the reasons why Jock is a hero to us.
Look at that smile. That stoke of playing the ocean. Jock is a hero because at the age of 72 he is still paddling out and catching waves.
"Jocko" was created in collaboration with film cinematographer extraordinaire Dave Homcy.
Boardshorts
Boardshorts are the unofficial uniform of Hawaii. Linn’s tailor shop on Royal Hawaiian Drive began making boardshorts in 1929 or 1930. Other tailor shops, like Take’s, M. Nii, and H. Miura followed, making boardshorts synonymous with the Hawaiian Islands and surfing.
In the spirit of the 1930’s, we construct durable & functional boardshorts for the 2020’s.
For the
Love of Print
Nothing is cooler than print. Well, maybe a new custom surfboard is cooler, but we digress. Financially, print doesn’t make much sense. But we enjoy telling stories that can’t be consumed on an iPhone. So sense or no sense, we will continue to print.
